I am the owner of Flooring Alternatives, based in Berkeley, California. After completing my architecture degree at U.C. Berkeley, I worked in the construction field on home remodeling projects. At this time, I joined Architects / Designers / Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR), the organizers of the pioneering Healthy Building Conference in 1992. That event led me to discover the benefits of sustainable bamboo flooring and I began to promote it as a green alternative. Since 1998, Flooring Alternatives has evolved into an unique specialized source for green flooring of all kinds, including cork, natural linoleum, recycled rubber, sustainable hardwoods and, of course, bamboo. Flooring Alternatives is FSC Chain-of-Custody Certified (SW-COC-1264), ensuring responsible use of forest resources.
