There are a lot of options that didn't exist just 5 years ago. Many of the products we use have been vetted against the Living Building Challenge chemical red list and include products such as Icestone or Richlite counters, green guard certified cabinets from Executive cabinets, sinks and toilets from Caroma and Fluid, VOC free (truly) from Mythic paint which you can use on bathroom walls in lieu of tile - semi gloss recommended - and tile from Crossville's ecocycle line to name a few. There are many more choices than these. Look for products with the following certifications: Green guard, cradle to cradle, declare, greenseal, floorscore, carpet & rug green label plus. If they don't have a 3rd party certification or approval, don't believe the claims.

What are my options for 100 percent non toxic materials? or close to...
Asked by Novela HendersonThis is my first time remodeling a house. I only want to use materials that are non toxic, no off gassing etc. I heard of Marmoleum for floors, so i think i will go with that. But what materials can i use for kitchen cabinets, countertops, sinks, tubs, bathroom walls, and toilets that are toxic free? What options do i have for completely toxic free materials, or as close to? Thank you for your help!
