Katherine is the founder and principal architect of LATENT DESIGN, an architecture firm whose mission is to solve social issues through design and uses a collaborative working method to create innovative solutions for underrepresented individuals and communities in Chicago. She has previously worked on projects ranging from nationally recognized affordable housing developments in Chicago to master planning for a sustainable neighborhood in Dubai and is currently working on a community center in Roseland. Her passion to address social issues through design has allowed her to collaborate and lead various national and local organizations. Katherine is Director of Architecture for Humanity Chicago and has previously completed the design for a community center and school in Kumasi, Ghana that will service up to 20,000 individuals. She is active in the USGBC Chicago Chapter and is the current co-chair of the Emerging Professional Committee and leads their annual Natural Talent Design Competition. Katherine is also a founding member of the AIA Chicago Chapter Community Interface Committee which will function as a network to exchange knowledge related to public interest work and become a point of contact for community and nonprofit groups that seek design solutions. Katherine is a frequent guest on design reviews and has previously presented her manifesto on biophilia, Dirty Talk, at Pecha Kucha Chicago vol #12.
