Thank you for accepting me into your green program,
I have been teaching carpentry at Wakefield High School since it opened in 1999. I enjoy reaching students who are interested in finding a career in the carpentry field. My interests in carpentry began at an early age when I graduated from Emmett Obrien Regional Vocational High School in Ansonia, Connecticut in 1974. Through out my carpentry experiences both as a construction contractor for twenty five years and a carpentry teacher for the past eleven years, I feel I could give your students the skills they need to earn National Certification through the NCCER. (National Center for Construction Education and Research) in which I am a Master trainer /Craft trainer who certifies both high school students and teachers.
In addition to teaching I am proud to be a Skills USA advisor. My students have placed first and fourth out of one hundred and twenty students in the Skills USA state carpentry contest in 2008. Then my first place student went to nationals where he came in twentieth out of the fifty states that entered. They also provide service to their community. My club received a grant through Lowe’s Home Improvements to have a shed building contest with Cary high school in which Wakefield won. I attend most of the summer conferences along with delivering the information back to the county teachers that attend the Convocation at Sanderson high school each year. I have been the teacher liaison for the PTSA for five years. I attend most school functions like dances, sporting events and assist the faculty with and projects they need help with.
I am interested in making a significant contribution to your school as well and believe my services would be valuable to you and your students. I look forward to hearing from you soon to discuss my skills and experience along with how I can make positive contributions to your school
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
