Architect, KEMA Services, Inc.
I have always been inspired by nature, feeling rejuvenated and reinspired whenever I get to immerse myself in it. Conversely, I’ve also always been appalled at the rampant use of energy in our country….even at the early age of 7 I noticed that all of the lights were on at night in the skyscrapers of the San Francisco skyline! That didn’t make sense to me then, and it still doesn’t. In my late 20’s I realized that I could incorporate my personal environmental pursuits with my profession, hence green building became my path. This was the late 80’s before green building had really caught on, although there are plenty of fine examples of solid green building from that era. I have been energized and deeply committed since making this shift, and now it’s hard to imagine practicing any other way. I particularly enjoy working with my clients helping them to embody their own values in their homes through green building.
