Service area: 200 miles

Service Area: We presently are working mostly in the Upstate of South Carolina and Western North Carolina, but are fullly capable and willing to work anywhere within the Southeast.

Services

We provide a range of services from sustainable custom home design to the design of environmentally sensitive communities and beyond. With every project we work very hard to connect with the land through access to the outdoors, provide integration of the landscaping, provide natural ventilation and lighting and incorporate the use of local materials. Each project is unique in it's needs and siting, providing opportunities for a variety of energy conserving technologies such as solar thermal water heating and high efficiency heating and cooling. This is what we do.

Experience

We currently have three certified projects:
1. Southern Living Green Home at Furman University - LEED for Homes Gold Certified
2. Riverside High School - LEED NC Certified
3. Upstate Forever Offices - LEED NC Platinum Certified - This was an adaptive reuse of a 1910 residence to an office use.

We currently have four homes in differing stages of design/construction that are LEED for homes registered.

Qualifications

From planning environmentally sensitive communities to creating high-performance buildings, Johnston Design Group’s guiding theme is the pursuit of design excellence through a collaborative process that creatively engages the client in a rewarding experience.

Our firm is currently comprised of 7 staff members, including four registered architects and four LEED-accredited professionals.

The studio has no overarching style and prefers to collaboratively explore climatically responsive design solutions that express the unique vision of each client.
