John Messerschmidt and a partner founded one of the first green residential construction companies in New York City in 2000. A brownstone in Fort Greene, Brooklyn completed in 2002, featured one of the first geothermal HVAC systems for use on a NYC residence. The home also featured radiant floor heating, sustainable hardwood decking, recycled and reclaimed building materials and no VOC paints and finishes. John is also a pioneer in the installation of residential PV systems in New York City. After moving on to a more established construction firm he realized the potential of associating green technologies with luxury living. Their clients were more comfortable in their homes and had a lesser impact on the earth.

Messerschmidt is certified by NAHB as a Certified Green Builder, by NARI as a Certified Green Professional and a member of the USGBC of New York.
