Sun Light and Power was founded in 1976 and originally specialized in the design and installation of solar hot water systems and passive solar applications for homes. Today, the company focuses on solar electric and solar hot water systems (both domestic hot water and pool systems) with a goal to offer complete energy solutions to both homeowners and businesses.
Sun Light and Power has completed over 400 residential systems in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recent projects include: Mission Plaza affordable housing (30 kW PV system) and a single family residence in Berkeley (2.3 kW PV system and 2 collector SDHW system). The first solar project completed by SLP was a Solar Domestic Hot Water System built the year the company was founded, 1976. Gary Gerber, along with six other SLP employees, are North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certified solar installers. Gary has served on the Board of Directors of Architects, Designers, Planners for Social Responsibility since 1996 and also sits on the Board for the California Solar Energy Industry Association. He is one of the founders of the Green Resource Center and Build it Green, a statewide green building non-profit and is a charter member of the Sustainable Business Alliance.
