Their services are for apartment buildings (2+ units), nonprofit facilities, and childcare centers across Illinois. They offer free energy assessments, cost-effective recommendations to improve your building, referrals for low-cost financing, assistance with other energy benefits, guidance with construction oversight, and performance reports based on energy savings. If you have a single family home, Elevate can connect you with a trusted construction partner to assess and improve your home.
Energy Savers has retrofitted more than 10,000 rental units in its program area (Chicago, Rockford and the 7 counties of the metro Chicago region). Through a combination of no-cost/no-obligation Energy Assessments/Audits, technical assistance in determinining scopes of work and finding qualified contractors, energy use monitoring, and low-cost fixed-rate financing, Energy Savers has reduced operating costs for owners (average 30% reduction in utility usage and cost), improved curb appeal and marketability of properties, provided more comfort to owners, and helped reduce the carbon footprint of the region. Projects through Energy Savers range from a relatively simple boiler replacement in a 6-unit apartment to a complete retrofit as part of a substantial rehab of 100+ unit properties.
Community Investment Corp. (CIC) has 10 staff with substantial experience in financing green projects, including 2 with pending USGBC Green Associate certification. Energy Assessments/Audits (along with technical assistance, construction monitoring and energy use monitoring) are provided by CNT Energy, a non-profit affiliate of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, CNT Energy staff include BPI-certified staff, Energy Raters, and USGBC-certified Green Associates.
Our organization has been financing the retrofit of multifamily properties in the greater Chicago market since 1984, with the intent to sustain and preserve the affordable rental stock in the region. Our mission is to be the leading force in neighborhood revitalization through innovative financial programs. As a non-profit CDFI, our focus is on preserving rental units that are affordable for working families, reducing operating costs for owners so that rents can continue to be affordable, and impact the larger community by helping to reduce energy consumption and emissions. Energy Savers as a program is a logical outgrowth of CIC's mission and fits with CIC's other efforts to finance the acquisition/rehab or refinance/rehab of multifamily housing in the greater Chicago metro region.
