Being a member of the Green REsource Council I have access to the Green MLS tool kit which is adopting a green initiative for the MLS. Offering a certified Green documented home on the MLS gives the green home seller an added bonus and provides the green conscious home buyer a better method of locating what they are most interested in.
I have and will continue to encourage my local business community to embrace environmental practices and building certifications that will benefit our environment . For example, I have contacted local leaders to ask if a current project is LEED certified and if so, at what level.
As a National Association of Realtors, Green Designee, I have received the required comprehensive educational training in order to seek out, understand, and market properties with green features. As the Broker/Owner of the Palo Alto Realty Group, I will strongly urge others to receive NAR's GREEN Designee training in order to better represent buyers and sellers. Other agents interested in joining my brokerage will be encouraged to complete the NAR's Green Designation.
As most people realize, real estate transactions waste a lot of paper. Our files contain too much paper and many signs contain toxic materials. Also, the traditional real estate office of the past used too much energy. Here is what I am doing :
* Use paperless real estate transactions (when possible).
* If paper is used, it must be recycled paper.
* Biodegradable signage
* Presentations and electronic flyers.
* Less energy used at my office. I only use my office when I need it.
Most time is spent with the client in their home or showing homes or meeting at a local Starbucks.
* Providing energy saving tips and advacating a healthy environment on my website/blog.
