As a Real Estate Broker with expertise and strong interest in green issues, I am able to help clients with the sale or purchase of a home that has green features. In terms of residential real estate, "green" relates to the energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and/or sustainability of materials in a house. In areas close-in to a major city such as DC, there are not a large number of new builder homes, so it's a bit more difficult to understand the green features and opportunities that come with older homes. I can help my clients understand their options and direct them to inspectors and contractors with green qualifications. I have a specific interest in health issues related to toxic materials that affect air quality, and am glad to take on the assignment to locate a home with current or potential good indoor air quality.
Experience
I enjoy working with residential real estate clients who are interested in green issues regarding the sale or purchase of a home. I have participated in home expos and seminars about green issues, and am a member of the Green Committee of my local realtor association.
Qualifications
I hold the GREEN Realtor designation from the National Association of Realtors, and during previous years working in commercial real estate, I have taken some of the classwork towards a LEED AP designation. Also, I have identified other local service professionals with green credentials, such as home energy auditors, IAQ inspectors, and building contractors, and I can recommend service providers to my clients.
