Service area: 200 miles
Service Area: We provide services all across the country, although the majority of our residential clients are within 100 miles of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Green building consulting, Healthy Building Inspections and Environmental testing with special emphasis on occupant health. We offer supporting documentation for many green building rating systems such as LEED, GreenPoint Rated and Green Guide for Health Care. Our environmental testing and inspecting services cover air, water, soil quality, bulk materials and even electromagnetic field surveys. We commonly evaluate homes (sites, and other buildings) for contaminants and provide specific recommendations for remediation where necessary.
Few designers and contractors have mastered green building rating systems – and even fewer have a deep understanding of healthy buildings or take a whole-building systems approach to smart design. Important issues such as controlling moisture and mold, allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and electromagnetic radiation (EMF), are often neglected during design and construction, when proactive mitigation efforts are easiest and most affordable.
We streamline the green building rating process (e.g., LEED or GreenPoint Rated), and while most consultants focus just on energy efficiency, we specialize in identifying simple and practical solutions for improving Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) as well. Some of the Green Building services we offer include:
Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx)
Building Performance Testing from certified BPI analysts including Blower door and Duct Blaster testing
Building Science Technology
Energy Auditing & Energy Modeling
LEED Consulting during Design & Construction
LEED IAQ testing.
GreenPoint Rated (GPR) for New or Existing Single or Multi-Family projects.
Building Biology Assessments
Healthy Building Materials Selection-we've done the research and will continue to source the best options for your environmental goals.
Healthy Building Inspections
Environmental healthy building inspections are our specialty. Let us inspect and test your building to provide you with answers. We collect samples, coordinate and interpret laboratory services, share our findings in a user-friendly report, and suggest practical and affordable mitigation strategies. Few companies can offer such comprehensive services all in one stop. Healthy Building Science has well trained and responsive environmental inspectors that can inspect and test:
Electromagnetic Field (EMR/EMF) Pre-purchase, Basic or Advanced.
Lead Clearance Sampling
Moisture & Mold with Mold Remediation Protocol (MRP)
NEHA/NCHH Healthy Home Inspection - developed by the National Environmental Health Association and National Center for Healthy Homes. Includes broad based categories such as keeping the building clean, contaminant-free, dry, pest-free, maintained, and safe.
Our environmental assessments are complete. From the basement and crawlspace to the attic and roof. We combine the principles of Building Biology AND Environmental Science.
We have been involved 25+ LEED-NC projects, 3 Green Guide for Health Care projects, and numerous green home remodels - from complete gut to minor retrofits.
We have years of experience working for cutting-edge green building consulting firms, numerous certifications, and graduate degrees in environmental science.
Our methods, equipment, and reporting are top notch and we have a healthy list of satisfied clients.
