WasteCap Resource Solutions is a private, nonprofit, industry-supported 501(c)(3) organization which provides waste reduction and recycling assistance for the benefit of business and the environment. WasteCap assists and encourages businesses to reduce their operating costs through improved production and solid waste management practices. WasteCap targets construction and demolition debris, food scraps and electronics.
WasteCap is recognized in Wisconsin and nationally as a leader in construction and demolition debris recycling. WasteCap has provided construction and demolition waste management services for over $3 billion in construction and demolition projects. These projects alone have saved more than $5 million in disposal costs. Their clients have diverted 273,912 tons of construction and demolition waste from landfills, which equates to 98.6 pounds per state resident and an equivalent of 127,796 trees saved by recycling wood and cardboard. WasteCap’s full-day Construction Waste Management Accreditation Course, events, awards recognizing recycling leadership, educational presentations given nationally and other initiatives have helped members and partners reduce and reuse much more.
WasteCap services include: (1) Accreditation in Construction & Demolition Recycling – WasteCap provides three-year accreditation through a full-day US Green Building Council Education Provider course, “Construction and Demolition Recycling Training,” which teaches how to meet LEED and other requirements for construction waste management. (2) Construction Waste Management – WasteCap provides planning assistance, technical and educational assistance, monitors, measures, documents and publicizes results of waste management efforts during construction and demolition projects. (3) Direct Services – WasteCap provides services to businesses to connect waste generators with reuse, recycling and compost markets. (4) Site Visits – WasteCap draws upon a network of volunteers to conduct confidential waste assessments for businesses and provides a written report of recommendations. (5) WasteCapDIRECT – An online directory of construction and demolition markets found at www.wastecapdirect.org. and (6) WasteCapTRACE – An online tracking application that allows users to document and report recycling activity on construction, demolition or remodeling projects. It gathers information required by governmental entities and certification projects, including LEED, in order to help users comply with documentation requirements and construction waste management specifications. It also allows users to easily create a waste management plan, progress reports, final reports and reports of results across many projects.
