Since 2009 Kearns Brothers has been active in recycling asphalt roofing material. In 2010 we recycled approximately 2,225 tons (4,500,000 lbs) of roofing material. Over 90% of the roofs we tear-off and remove are recycled. And over 90% of our roofing shingles are made within 500 miles (actual apprx 300 miles) which is a green criteria with relation to transportation costs.

The CertainTeed vinyl siding we sell & install is manufactured in Jackson, Michigan, less than 50 miles from our Showroom. We install James Hardie fiber cement siding as well. The James Hardie manufacturing plant is inside of the magical 500 miles radius.
Windows; we install the Sunrise Windows', "Restorations" series windows which qualified for the 2009/10 Energy Tax Rebate. Our windows are Michigan made in Temperance, less than 65 miles from our Showroom.
In 2009, we started replacing our sales consultants' pick-up trucks with a more fuel efficient vehicle, the Chevy HHR.
We have been contacted by Dow Building, Midland, Michigan to install their brand new industry changing solar shingle on a project to commence in 2011. We are active participants in recycling materials form job sites
As a home improvement remodeling company, we have the goal to continualy reduce our usage of landfill dumping by recycling post remodeling materials. Reduce use of gasoline by increasing fuel economy of vehicles as well as more efficient routing of personnel to reduce consumption of fuel.
We also are active in promoting the Energy Efficient Energy Star rated cool roofing for commercial buildings as well as residential homes
