MAP Architects has launched recently MAP Green, a division specializing in green consulting services for building design,green retrofit/rehabilitation, and sustainable neighborhood planning.The MAP green mission is to help clients achieve truly sustainable projects at any scale,ranging from an entire neighborhood to an individual building to interior spaces/retrofits.

MAP Green has been the principal planner for the groundbreaking community in the South Bronx called Melrose Commons, which was recently awarded LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Stage II Silver Certification. MAP Green is also currently working on two projects pursuing LEED Gold certification and nearing construction completion: Atlantic Terrace and El Jardin. other green affordable LEED buildings on the boards include 22 Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh and Ludlow Street apartments in Yonkers, NY.

MAP architects has 10 talented LEED AP architects so it made sense to create a division dedicated to helping non-profits,developers and property owners identify and implement sustainability strategies for each of their projects.

MAP Green is an independent division that specializes in sustainability consulting.Services include: Systainable design, Net Zero Energy building design, Green retrofit,LEED certification support for all building types;LEED for Neighborhood Development certification support;Green Design charrettes and coordination and support for NYSERDA and other energy efficiency programs.

With technical partners MAP Green will provide: Energy Audits, Computerized Energy Modelling,Renewable Energy System Design, and Building Commissioning.

Fernando Villa, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is the leading designer and Senior Associate at MAP architects and is an international lecturer about sustainable design.
