In preparing homes to sell we seek to re-use and repurpose furnishings and decor the client already owns, reducing pressure on our landfills. When new materials are required, I specify sustainable flooring, low to no VOC paints, and natural fibers. We frequently shop pre-owned items. When redesigning rooms, we always use what the client owns first and keep the introduction of new materials to a minimum and at every possible opportunity, green materials are specified to complement the design.
