The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED provides building owners and operators with the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance.
Bureau Veritas is an approved third-party certifcation body for the review of LEED project submissions to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). As one of the few approved contracted reviewers for LEED certification, Bureau Veritas is helping the USGBC expand its capacity to serve the dramatic growth in the number of LEED project certification submittals.
Bureau Veritas’ technical expertise in the area of certification and third-party review has allowed us to assist the USGBC in obtaining its vision to achieve a sustainable built environment within a generation, but also to become intimately familiar with the approval process. Through such experience, Bureau Veritas is able to provide consulting services and review the submittal package prior to the USGBC receiving it.
Although the energy code has been around for many years, a number of organizations continue to find it difficult to meet or exceed the state and local energy code without exceeding their budget. Energy efficiency is important, and required, but it can also be costly in the short-term. To remain competitive in the marketplace, builders and developers must minimize their costs.
Additionally, an energy code compliance report and inspections are required for verification. Many jurisdictions require proof of compliance before they will issue a certificate of occupancy. Furthermore, the inspections are often required to be performed by a code certified inspector.
Bureau Veritas is a proud partner with ENERGY STAR®.
