Services

I believe that the decisions made during the course of any interior design project provide countless opportunities to use natural and human resources wisely. I will help you adapt and rethink existing spaces so that they can be used more effectively, perhaps while rejuvenating existing furniture or salvaging architectural woodwork. At d2e, my focus is to create healthy and productive environments for you. Together, we will consider the entire life-cycle of a product, not just short-term gain.

Experience

down2earth interior design is a Philadelphia area design practice with a focus on creating sustainable, low-maintenance and beautiful interior environments.

I will be happy to provide design case studies which highlight how I have addressed sustainability issues with previous clients. Some of the considerations I brought to bear to make previous designs responsible are: minimizing consumption, whether it's water, energy, or building material, maximizing space, using low maintenance finish selections, and family friendly dimensions and material choices.

Qualifications

Amy Cuker is a Philadelphia-area interior designer with over a decade of experience designing buildings and educating young designers. Amy Cuker has passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Exam and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. (I passed the LEED-CI exam in August, 2006). I hold a BS in Interior Design from Cornell University, and an MBA with a concentration in Management from LaSalle University.

d2e is client centered. A space is only sustainable if it works for you, the client. If your environnment is hard to maintain, you will change it, and more resources will be unnecessarily consumed. In order for design to be considered sustainable, it must be consistent with your values. At d2e, I provide practical, sensible design services within your budget so that your personal resources remain committed to your family and community.
