We're beating every bush to find a good home designer very experienced in green design (and relatively nearby) to design a new home for us.

Fortunately, there are some good places to turn for answers. Some custom builders (like myself) are also designers. Pennsylvania hosts a list of licensed contractors in the state; you can find it here: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/hicsearch/ This list is searchable by keywords and location. Another place to turn to is the U.S. Green Building Council local chapters. They will have member databases and projects to search (check for architects and builders). For Lititz you might try the Philadelphia Chapter (Delaware Valley Green Building Council), or the Harrisburg one (Green Building Association of Central PA). Finally, try doing an internet search with basic terms like "green home design" with your town name, then do one with your county, then maybe the closest large city. See what comes up in your research. Then try to find 3 or 4 firms if possible and talk to them about their work and achievements, experience, philosophy, etc. Hopefully at least one of them will be a good match for you. Good luck!
