Question

Our off-the-grid home is for sale. Two different families made offers but neither has found anyone who would lend on it. Any suggestions?

In most cases buyers are working with banks that are selling their mortgages into the secondary market (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac). A bank that has in-house portfolio money might have an appetite for the loan if the buyers have a large enough down payment and have healthy cash reserves. You may need to do some creative googling to find banks in your area that have dealt with green projects in the past.
