Is a resin planter safe for planting vegetables?

Melamine formaldehyde resin is approved by the FDA for direct food contact for human consumption. See reference here

  • The cured polymer does not offgas formaldehyde.
  • Therefore, resin planters that have had adequate curing time are no risk for growing food.

All this assumes that you trust the US FDA, of course, which some folks don't.
