Question
I want to make sure mold never returns in my basement. I recently had mold remediation and waterproofing done.
I was told aqua board, was a possibility, is it a good idea?
Answer
I am not sure what aqua board is. There are a number of fiberglass wall boards that don't have any organics in their fabrication. The paper and organics in normal drywall is what the mold grows from.
- DensShield or DensGlass made by Georgia Pacific would both be suitable for basement walls.
- The Densglass would provide a finer finish.
These are good products, but the real solution is to keep the humidity down with a simple free standing dehumidifier.
Also making sure the sump pump is working properly and sized properly. I would also highly recommend a battery backup system with a backup sump pump.
These investment are a must have in a finished basement.
