Question
I want to add a second floor. Are SIPs applicable for this?
Want to use SIPs if appropriate for walls, floor and roof of a second floor addition. The first floor is regular wood frame type building.
Answer
SIPS would be great in this application (for the walls & ceiling) but you do need to have a structural engineer make sure your existing structure can handle it. There will likely be upgrades needed.
As for the floor I have never seen SIPS used for that but mainly see them provided prebuilt panels made with I-Joists.
