Question
I am latex allergic. Is it safe for me to remove old carpet that has a padding under it?
This is indoors, in basement rec/laundry, probably put down within 20 years but more than 10, looks like waffle type. The pad has somewhat crumbled and leaves dust, etc.
Answer
Only if you are properly protected. While most foam style padding I have seen does not contain latex, some did have a coating applied to them.
Some carpet backings have also been known to utilize latex so I would either leave it to someone else or as I said protect yourself.
