Question

Greening a holiday home in France

Hi there, We're in the process of buying an old stone house and barn in countryside France. We're going to do a lot of the renovation ourselves, and would like to be as "green" as possible. We can get a lot of useful information on methods and materials from this site, but don't know how to find local suppliers. Do you have any tips on how to find green materials and contractors in France? Many thanks, Olivia.

Well, first of all, greening a home is a very important step in helping the Earth with its precious resources. I think talking with the local city department first, and seeing if they have any green guide lines, and then to a local contractor (where you live now) could be a good start. This can help you decide on certain materials, then see if you can find them in France. Or at least an equivalent.
