Does building a shed for an A/C unit make it more efficent?

We have about 12 roof A/C units on the roof - i want to build a shed on one or two units to see if they save energy ?

No. Shading them does work, but they require an air space all the way around the unit (2-3') and above it (3-5').

I have seen some places that use a metal frame with shade cloth. And some even have misters that work out pretty well.
