Can bamboo be used as a countertop?
I'd like to use bamboo for a kitchen countertop.
Answer
I used a bamboo countertop in my own house and it holds up very well.
- I finished it with a nontoxic sealer.
- I don't cut on it or put super hot pans on it, so I can't tell you how that would be.
- I used vertical grain solid bamboo so that the edges could show and look like miniature butcher block.
It has been installed now for about five years in the non-heavy-duty counters of my kitchen with no sign of wear.
