Our house was built in 1971 and has copper water pipes. Other than really bad tasting water (VERY metallic!) is it unhealthy? We can't afford to have them torn out and replaced!
By now, the copper has created a layer of oxidation that separates the water from copper. This is why copper is the best water pipe available. I would look at other sources for the bad taste.
